After being rejected for 'Beast,' Idris Elba's daughter refused to speak with him

Idris Elba, an English actor-producer, experienced a tense environment after his daughter Isan was denied a role in his latest film 'Beast' due to a lack of on-screen chemistry, according to Deadline.

"My daughter auditioned for this role," Elba said on The Breakfast Club, according to Deadline. "She wants to be an actress, so she auditioned, and it all came down to chemistry. Strangely enough, the chemistry between the characters in the film and my daughter wasn't right for film."

Elba said his daughter didn't talk to him for "about three weeks" after he didn't get the part.

According to Deadline, it was producer Will Packer who had to break the news to Isan that she would not be working with her father because he considers her his "little niece."

Packer praised Elba for avoiding nepotism by asking producers to put his daughter "through the ropes" in the audition process.

Packer continued, "He auditioned with her (and) he was very tough on her. "Listen, at the end of the day, we're going to choose the best course of action for the movie.

(Elba) said. I believe in you, Will; believe in the director," and she was excellent and very close."

Some of the subtleties of that real-life relationship "don't always translate on screen," according to Packer.

Elba also praised his daughter for being "very gracious" throughout the process and accompanying him to the premiere.

Packer believes that everyone will "certainly see" Isan in a film soon.
